Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House® New York (RMH-NY) is keeping families close by providing temporary housing for pediatric cancer patients and their families in a strong, supportive and caring environment that encourages and nurtures the development of child-to-child and parent-to-parent support systems. RMH-NY can accommodate 95 families. Its location in Manhattan, in close proximity to major cancer treatment centers, draws children and families from across the country and the world, as well as from the metropolitan New York City area. Since its founding, more than 59,000 families from across the country and world have stayed at RMH-NY. RMH-NY partners with 16 leading cancer treatment hospitals in the New York City area, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYU Langone Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Weill Cornell Medical Center and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. RMH-NY is a proud Chapter of the national and international network of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
MDC has been proud to work with Ronald McDonald House New York for many years. MDC has provided pro bono video and event services to RMHNY, which includes video production services and editing of the content to be aired during their annual Gala and annual Volunteer Dinner. MDC has also hosted fundraising events for RMHNY and is currently working on a charity hockey game in October to run alongside the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer campaign. The game will feature esteemed members of the NYPD, NJPD, FBI and DEA facing off against each other to raise money for the House.
MDC introduced a number of high-profile celebrities to the House, including Robert DeNiro, Liam Neeson, Chris Pratt, Emily Blunt, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Holland, Kristen Bell, Taylor Lautner and many more. MDC has also helped to build strong relationships between the House and top Hollywood film studios, including Fox, NBC, Universal, Marvel, Disney, Dreamworks, Lionsgate, Hasbro, Sony and Paramount. MDC organizes and hosts private movie screening events for the House so that the children and families can see all the latest films even if they’re not well enough to attend a regular theater. As a special treat, MDC works with various publicity teams to bring in the stars to answer Q+A’s and introduce their films. Actors like Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy were on hand to introduce the last two XMEN films; Steve Carell came by to introduce Despicable Me 3 and Tom Holland surprised the kids by visiting (IN COSTUME) after a private screening of Spiderman: Homecoming.
MDC is also helping RMHNY document their multimillion dollar renovation project which includes additional rooms, kitchens and an immunosuppressive wing for transplant patients.
