Chris Pratt Visits Ronald McDonald House
When: Monday, May 08 2017
Chris Pratt, a Hollywood actor best known for his roles in blockbusters such as Jurassic World and the Guardians of the Galaxy series, brightened up the lives of several children staying at the Ronald McDonald House in NY.
This wasn't Chris' first visit to the House. Previous visits have touched him so deeply that he goes out of his way to stop by when his work brings him through New York. Chris and his team sent a shipment of toys for each and every child ahead of his visit. These were set up in the Ronald McDonald House Playroom; a big recreation room made to feel as much like a home as possible. The kids and their families gathered in the room with great anticipation.
When Chris arrived, he and the kids greeted each other with equal excitement. A number of them had met him during a previous visit and they hugged like old friends. Very quickly, a heated card game of Exploding Kittens was underway and the kids may or may not have ganged up and cheated in order to beat Chris. After a winner was declared, he took time to be with every single child, talk with them, take some pictures and personally sign a Guardians of the Galaxy toy for them. One of the children gave Chris a handmade card and you could tell how much it meant to him.
Before Chris left, he and the kids filmed footage for a video to be shown at the upcoming Ronald McDonald House NY Fundraising Gala. Hugs were exchanged and as Chris left, he promised to visit again soon. Parents spoke afterward how important this was for their children. The happiness it brought them, even if just for a brief period of time, would help them get through many tough days ahead.
